- We provide learning environments that are physically and culturally inviting.
- We reinforce all students for academic development.
- We make instructional changes to honor and accommodate the differences in all our students.
- We manage our classrooms with firm, consistent yet loving control.
- We model and provide interaction opportunities that stress both collectivity as well as individuality.

November is here...

I am respectful, honest, responsible.
I am a Hawk!
Hawks are BANANAS for BOOKS!

Thank you...
...teachers for coming prepared to your Advisory sessions last week. It allowed each thirty-minute session to be meaningful and focused on discussing the needs of each student we discussed and in the identification of the next step for each of them. Also, thank you for some of you who have taken the time to share that you found the suggestions given during Advisory to be very useful, meaningful yet easy enough to implement.

...teachers who already began entering their DIBELS Progress Monitoring data into the DIBELS Data Management System.

Reminders of the Week:
Please begin follow-up on the following suggestions that apply to you per your own session during Advisory:

- Fry Words Mastery opportunities built-in the literacy block. See Lisa or Almai if you need (more) ideas on how to provide these opportunities

REPOST:
From District Communications Regarding 2011-2012 Winter Break
Winter break is scheduled for Monday, December 19, 2011- Friday, December 30, 2011. December 23, 26, 29 and 30 are designated holidays for full year employees.

To accommodate the plans of many employees, the District central offices will be closed to the public from December 26-30.

To account for hours on regular work days during this time (December 27 and 28), District central office full year employees may choose from the following:
- use vacation hours for work time they choose not to work, or
- use pre-approved, accumulated compensatory hours for work time they choose not to work, or
- work their normal hours on items not related to dealing with "customers." While the building will be "closed", individual employees may elect to report to work during normal work hours.
