Firgrove Elementary Hawk Happenings is a weekly publication for our dedicated and hard-working staff whose mission states, "Together as a community, we will build an educational foundation to help all learners realize their full potential and achieve their hopes and dreams."
WE are committed to continue to strive to be better at practicing the Seven Culturally Responsive Classroom Principles, hence:
- We affirm our students in their cultural connections.
- We strive to be personally inviting.
- We provide learning environments that are physically and culturally inviting.
- We reinforce all students for academic development.
- We make instructional changes to honor and accommodate the differences in all our students.
- We manage our classrooms with firm, consistent yet loving control.
- We model and provide interaction opportunities that stress both collectivity as well as individuality.

2010-2011 School Year's Last Full Week: Hawks Finish Strong!
REMINDER OF THE WEEK:
Remember to obtain signatures/initials on closing tasks that need to be checked-off per your closing packet.
Field Day Thank you...
Let's all remember to thank PTA (especially Shannon Kelsch, Jill Ralston, Joy Benning and Kimberly Shipman) for all their hard work to have a successful Field Day.
Please take the time to have students thank the parent volunteers that you recognized out there last Friday. Perhaps their child in your room can bring the thank you note from your class on behalf of the other students in our school.

Message From Melanie Martin Regarding New Math Materials:
Jennifer is working hard on delivering all of the Bridge's boxes to teachers. You should receive materials for the grade you are teaching next year. You will need to pull out teacher manuals for your summer trainings.
K teachers have one large box. 1-5 grades have 2 boxes each. Primary kits include a large hanging file box to store games, etc. I have barcode stickers to place on those. I am planning on doing that Wednesday afternoon. (It would be helpful if you could pull that box out sometime before then :)
The district is sending some type of a tub for grades 4-5 which I will barcode and deliver to you when they get here.
Finally, Bobbi and I are hosting optional unpacking info. sessions on Wednesday after Sara's baby shower. I will have information for k-3 and Bobbi will have information for 4-5.
Thanks for all of your flexibility and understanding as we get everything straightened out so we are ready for the fall!
