Message from ITC Regarding E-mail File Size Limits
Because of legal requirements to archive all e-mail, and the potential for slowing down the performance of email servers, organizations typically impose a size limit on e-mails. The Puyallup School District faces these challenges as well, and has set a 10 MB e-mail file size limit. While this may seem like a large size, photos and documents with images in them can quickly exceed that size limit. E-mail size is determined by the size of the e-mail itself and any attachments.

What does this mean to me?
Any emails larger than 10MB must be sent using the new PSD Drop Box. You will receive an error message if your e-mail is too large. Using the drop box will help keep the email system running efficiently, as well as help slow the growth rate of the PSD e-mail archives.

• If you need to send someone an e-mail larger than 10MB use the following link: http://webshare.puyallup.k12.wa.us/staffdropbox.aspx
• If you need to receive an e-mail larger than 10 MB send the following web address to the person who needs to send you the email: http://webshare.puyallup.k12.wa.us/

For detailed directions on how to use either site, visit our Outlook support page at District Tools (http://sharepoint/tools/Outlook2010/default.aspx).

Remember, PSD also has a network folder available to all staff for file sharing. Any file dropped in to the Temporarily Shared folder can be accessed by any PSD staff member on the district network. It's another quick way to share large files with staff without impacting the e-mail system.

How will I know when to use the Drop Box?
Outlook will display a message telling you if your e-mail exceeds the size limit. If you receive such a message, use the Drop Box website to send the file to your recipient.
